“I feel very strongly about celebrating the ability to work. It’s been part of my life since I was a kid. I’ve always worked, since before I was 12. In addition to helping out around the home, I’ve babysat or been a day camp counselor or taught swimming lessons.”

“ My first job working for a company was working at a drive-in theater in my local hometown. I made $1.25 an hour. It taught me so much. Working for Mr. Emmons. I learned so much about people skills, cleanliness, organization and that working is so important for people. It gives them a sense of self-worth. No matter what kind of work they do.”

“ I’ve worked at a gas station - taking the money, mopping up any gas spills, cleaning the bathroom, making sure nobody drove off without paying. In college, I worked in the herbarium (has to do with botany). I have schooled many children, I have established three schools. I get pleasure from working and tried to make sure my children and grandchildren got the same pleasure. I have always considered that the most important thing I could do is to make sure a person knows how to work.” - Vicki

I hope you enjoyed this brief interview!
